Support of Open API documentation (i.e., Swagger) for
integration with other products that support the standard
Provides Agile (dynamic) API
creation, simple testing and
easy deployment

z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition runs on the lightweight and
fit-for-purpose IBM WebSphere*
Liberty Profile Server on the
UNIX* Systems Services side, and
is generally started using a z/OS
started task. One Angel process
per LPAR must be running. z/OS
Connect Enterprise Edition was
created to run transactions at high
speed with high throughput and
at low cost. Because it's written
in Java*, it is almost 100 percent
eligible for IBM z* Integrated
Information Processor.
High availability is critical in the
design of z/OS Connect Enterprise
Edition using the SYSPLEX distributor to allow for server failover in
and across LPARs. Transactions
can also be distributed across data
sharing members.
z/OS Connect Enterprise
Edition servers can be created for
different purposes. For example,
one could be for online shopping, another for HR/payroll,
both with very different security
objectives. RACF* class DSNR has
been created to integrate z/OS
Connect Enterprise Edition with
DDF for security, auditing and
data transformation.

Put Into Action
To use z/OS Connect Enterprise
Edition, the native REST service must first be created. Once
created, four steps are needed to
create a Db2 RESTful API in it:
1. Obtain the Db2 service's JSON
request and response schemas
2. Build the service archive file
(SAR) using the build toolkit
(zconbt)

3. Define the Db2 REST service and TCP/IP
connection information in the
server.xml file
4. Use the API editor to create (deploy) the
Db2 RESTful API
Native REST as well as z/OS Connect Enterprise
Edition Db2 transactions execute in DDF. The

server.xml file has an entry for
each service, the LPAR location,
the Db2 subsystem/member
TCP/IP port, and ID and password. Executing an API using
z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition
requires you to authenticate

Easy z/OS Application Performance Testing
Services from the Infrastructure Perspective

Wednesday, May 9 | 1 ET / 12 CT
FEATURING:

Reduce production infrastructure
performance problems with
application new releases
Most organizations have at least a
few vivid memories of where new
versions of an application caused major
service level delivery problems and/or
unexpected z/OS infrastructure costs.
These production problems happened
despite existing DevOps test procedures
for new application versions.
We'll discuss "application infrastructure
performance signatures" using RMF data
from test runs, and how to automate
the calculation of variances between
releases of this signature.
