INFOGRAPHIC Breaking Down the Mainframe Skills Gap The IT industry and organizations deploying IBM mainframes are not immune to a rapidly aging workforce. IBM Systems Magazine in collaboration with SHARE recently conducted a survey of more than 1,400 IT professionals centered around the mainframe skills gap. On average, respondents reported that 18 percent of their mainframe staff will be retiring in the next five years and taking decades of experience with them. Fortunately, IBM, SHARE, IBM Global Training Providers and third-party software providers are offering ways to help shrink that gap, including training, education, conferences and courses, helping ensure organizations have the z Systems* talent they need. Below is a high-level overview of some of the survey findings. Read the full report at and learn how the mainframe community is addressing the skills shortage.
