TECHBITS A Mixed Bag for Cyber Security According to findings released in January by IBM, despite a 50 percent decline in the number of cyber attacks against U.S. retailers, the number of records stolen from them remains at a near-record high. IBM Security researchers report that in 2014, cyber attackers managed to steal more than 61 million records from retailers, demonstrating cyber criminals' increasing sophistication and efficiency. The creator of "World of Warcraft," Rob Pardo, wants competitive video gaming-known as e-sports-to be an Olympic event. Professional gaming is more of a mind sport than a physical one (similar to chess, which has also been rejected by the International Olympic Committee), but gamers develop an incredible skill set with lightning-fast reflexes and split-second decision making. Belty, a new prototype unveiled at CES in January, adjusts wider automatically if you sit down or eat a big meal and cinches when you stand or lose weight. Created by French startup Emiota, it can also track your exercise and let you know if you've been sitting too long.
