A classical musician, she continues to study jazz guitar. Her interest in the music style began at the University of Wisconsin, where she met her husband, jazz guitarist John Shacklett. Support in the Long Run I Ryan Etter Making it Pop A professional illustrator for more than 18 years, Ryan created the photo illustration for the article on page 32. His commissions include trade and consumer magazines, in-store display promotions, advertising and product promotions. He takes a unique approach of using traditional methods to conceptualize and digital means to illustrate. recently completed my fourth Grandma’s Marathon along the shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. Each year, I’m impressed by and grateful to the countless volunteers and organizers. They provide well-stocked water stations, medical treatment for those who need it and much more support behind the scenes. All of this makes running 26.2 miles possible for myriad runners—from world-class athletes to those of us just glad to reach the finish line on our feet.
